Ingredients
olive oil - 3 tablespoonsonions - 2 large chopped
Basmati white rice -2 cups
salt - 1 teaspoon
black pepper -½ teaspoon
turmeric- 3/4 teaspoon
coriander powder -½ teaspoon
cinnamon powder -½ teaspoon
ground ginger- ¼ teaspoon
Hot water or Chicken broth - 3-3.5 cups
Instructions
- Chop 2-3 large onions and transfer to a large skillet or deep pot once the oil is heated up.
- Lightly caramelize the onions in olive oil until the onions are translucent.
- Add the spices and stir for 3-4 minutes on low heat
- Add the rinsed rice.Stir everything together.
- In a microwave-able container heat 3-3.5 cups of water or broth.
- Add the hot water/broth and bring mixture to a boil.
- Simmer on low and cook until the water is absorbed at the top.
- Turn the heat off and set the pot aside with lid on.
- Be sure to fluff the rice after letting it rest for 10 minutes.
