Ingredients

olive oil - 3 tablespoons
onions - 2 large chopped

Basmati white rice -2 cups
salt - 1 teaspoon
black pepper -½ teaspoon
turmeric- 3/4 teaspoon
coriander powder -½ teaspoon
cinnamon powder -½ teaspoon
ground ginger- ¼ teaspoon

Hot water or Chicken broth - 3-3.5 cups

Instructions

  1. Chop 2-3 large onions and transfer to a large skillet or deep pot once the oil is heated up.
  2. Lightly caramelize the onions in olive oil until the onions are translucent.
  3. Add  the spices and stir for 3-4 minutes on low heat
  4. Add the rinsed rice.Stir everything together.
  5. In a microwave-able container heat 3-3.5 cups of water or broth.
  6. Add the hot water/broth and bring mixture to a boil.
  7. Simmer on low and cook until the water is absorbed at the top.
  8. Turn the heat off and set the pot aside with lid on.
  9. Be sure to fluff the rice after letting it rest for 10 minutes.
