Pancake...The Comfort food!!





A pancake, also known as a hotcake or flapjack is a flat cake, often thin, flat, and round, prepared from a starch-based batter and cooked on a hot surface such as griddle or frying pan.

They may be served at any time with a variety of toppings or fillings including jam, fruit, syrup, chocolate chips, or meat. In America, they are typically considered to be a breakfast food. In Britain and the Commonwealth, they are associated with Shrove Tuesday, commonly known as PancakeDay, when perishable ingredients had to be used up before the fasting period of Lent began.Enjoy!!

Ingredients:

1 Cup All purpose flour
1 1/2tsp Baking powder
1/4 tsp Salt
2 Tbsp Granulated white sugar
1 Large Egg lightly beaten
1 Cup Milk
2 Tbsp unsalted Butter
Plus extra melted butter for greasing the pan

 

Preparation:

In a large bowl whisk together the flour,baking powder,salt and sugar.In a separate bowl whisk together the egg,milk and melted butter.Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and the pour in the egg mixture,all at once and stir just until combined.(Do not over mix them,otherwise the pancakes will be tough.
Heat a frying pan,over medium heat until a few sprinkles of water dropped on the pan or griddle splatter.Lightly brush the pan with melted butter.Pour 1/4 cup of pancake batter into hot pan.When the bottom of the pancake are brown and bubble starts to appearon top surface,turn over.Cook until lightly browned.Repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve immediately with butter and maple syrup.
